Illness

If a child is unwell and will be staying at home, we need to be informed before 9.00am. Notification can be given in person or by phoning the school office.

If a child is not in school without prior notification, we will contact parents to ascertain their child’s whereabouts.

Medical/Dental appointments

Appointments for dentists, doctors, hospitals etc are better made out of school hours or during holidays. We are aware that this is not always possible and so appointments either at the beginning or end of the school day can avoid too much disruption to children’s learning. For all appointments where a child may miss any time in school, we request that an appointment card or letter is brought to the school office in order that the time out of school can be authorised.

Punctuality

School starts at 8:45 with the school gates closing at 8:55. Although unavoidable on occasion, being late can be upsetting and disruptive to children, as well as being distracting to the rest of the class.

Holidays during school time

Following recent legislation and national guidance that applies to all schools, we cannot authorise any holidays taken in school time. Please be aware that parents who take their child/ren away during school time may be issued with a penalty notice and this could also lead to prosecution. As well as holidays taken mid-term, this also applies to sessions missed on the first or last day of term.
