Autumn Term 2

Friday 8th November 2024

Good Morning Everyone!

Firstly, can I thank you all for the sweet contributions you sent in with your children on Christmas Jumper day. At the treats sale we held on Tuesday (where we sold the contributions) we raised £120 all of which will go into our school trips fund.

School trips are hugely expensive if we have to travel with coaches costing hundreds of pounds even for relatively short distances. The money we made on Tuesday will go into subsidising transport on visits to keep the costs down as much as possible.

Look out for similar events across the year. The more donations we get, the more we can sell and the more money we put into the school trip transport fund.

PE kits and Changing Routines

We are always looking at ways of making things more efficient in school. With this in mind we are no longer asking your children to get fully changed in school for PE. We would ask that on PE days they come to school in their PE kits, white plain t-shirt and black shorts, black jogging bottoms or black leggings.

Uniform

Hooded tops and sports branded jumpers are not allowed. School jumpers should be worn on PE days. The children will then be asked to remove them during the lessons. Trainers should only be worn on days when the PE session is outside. Trainers are not safe for indoor sessions so children will need pumps or bare feet on these days. School shoes should be worn during the day and changed into pumps for the lesson.

Breakfast Club

Bookings for Breakfast Club are now open. Please book your children’s place ASAP. Breakfast club is becoming ever more popular and places are limited.

Start of the School Day

SCHOOL STARTS AT 8.45AM EVERY DAY.

Please make sure your children are in school at this time. Start of the day lessons begin at 8.45 with flashback four and targeted 1 to 1 reading happening across the school at this time. Even arriving just 10 mins late every day means they have the best part of an hour less of teacher time than their classmates or 8 days across the school year!

Homework

Thank you for your support with the homework platforms. More and more certificates have been going home to reflect the hard work children have been putting into their LBQ work, Times Table Rock Stars and home reading. It really makes a difference to their reading stamina and maths fluency, both things that are proven to make a real positive difference to their future successes especially in formal testing like the year 6 SATs and GCSEs in high school.

Year 3 and Year 4 Times Table Check - National Test Parent Information Meeting

CO-OP VOUCHER GIVEAWAY - chance to win a voucher for attending!

There will be a parent meeting to discuss the National Times Table Check Test that all year 4 pupils will complete. This will be completed by all Year 4 pupils in the country and how well your child does is a real indicator for their future success in Maths.

Please come along and meet Mr Mitchell and Ms Muse who will discuss ways in which you can help your child succeed in this test.

Co-op Toiletries Give Away

We have had another donation of toiletries form the Co-op communities team. The first give away from this batch will be today after school at the front entrance. Please stop by for some freebies.

Lost Property - Coats, Coats and more Coats!

Occe again, we have quite a pile of jumpers and coats that have been left in school across the term. I will be outside with the coat rack by the toiletries give away at home time. If you are missing anything, please come and have a dig. We need the coat rack free from coats for the start of the spring term.

Grounds Update

Many of you have asked about the repairs that are needed on the back playground. We have had a few issues that have delayed things! The Trust has ensured we have the money to get it sorted but we have not managed to get the contractors in yet. We are very hopeful that this will happen during the February half term.

And Finally…

Have a wonderful break. If you celebrate Christmas I hope you have a brilliant time with friends and family. If you don’t celebrate I also hope you have a great time!

School will be open ready for the Spring Term at 8.45 on Tuesday 7th January 2025. See you all then.
